2013 Potentate Cruise: Classic Yacht Rendezvous at Bell Harbor

As a precursor to our main voyage of the season, we took time out from our boat projects to clean up and head out around the corner for the Classic Yacht Rendezvous at Bell Harbor Marina. Accompanying us were our friends Trav and Barb, who are long time boaters now retired from that activity, but not in spirit. We all enjoyed getting some salt air in our veins, including the Potentate.

The Classic Yacht Association has been holding this rendezvous at Bell Harbor for quite a few years - the moorage is free in exchange for allowing the public to view and board (at our discretion). This is our second time to attend, although we have signed up a couple times earlier only to be defeated by problems with our previous engines.

Trav brought along his mobility cart to better cruise the docks, and Erin and Barb made a trip up to the Pike Place Market and came back with a couple bouquets of fresh flowers to further enhance our décor.

The weather was perfect, with plenty of blue sky and sunshine throughout the weekend. On Saturday we all gathered up on the pier for a potluck dinner, and on Sunday the Austin Healeys returned from last year's display to once again grace the upper deck with a different variety of classics.

We pulled out of the marina at about 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon to head back to await our turn at the locks, which took about an hour or so. Barb was out on deck assisting with the lines as we tied to the lock waiting wall, and again in the large lock.

We had a great weekend, and also met some fellow Classic boaters who we may see later up in the Broughtons. Now it's time to get back to work and finish those boat projects. Well, they're never finished, so we'll just get a little more done before we head out again.
